Our Commitment to Quality

At Gilt Sterling, quality isn’t an afterthought — it’s built into every step of our process. From the moment materials arrive to the final plated component leaving our facility, each stage is carefully monitored, measured, and documented. We follow standardized inspection and process control procedures to ensure consistent results across every batch — whether for local delivery or global OEM export.

How We Ensure Precision Every Time?

  • Incoming Inspection: Every part and material is verified before processing.

  • Bath Chemistry & Current Density Control: Regular checks maintain optimal plating conditions and deposit quality.

  • Undercoat & Strike Sequences: Engineered plating stacks ensure strong adhesion and long-term performance.

  • Final Inspection: Each lot passes dimensional, visual, and electrical verification before dispatch.

  • Certificate of Analysis: Our QC team issues full batch records and analysis reports for every shipment.

Infrastructure

Our Ranipet plant is a purpose-built plating facility with separate processing lines for silver, tin, nickel and copper. We maintain material flow controls, automated tank handling, and an in-house QC laboratory so each batch meets specified chemistry and thickness targets.

Key infrastructure

  • Dedicated silver plating line and separate tin, nickel & copper lines for process isolation and throughput.

  • Automated rack & barrel handling to improve repeatability and reduce contamination risk.

  • In-house laboratory for thickness, adhesion, contact-resistance and visual inspection.

  • Packaging and export-ready dispatch areas with batch traceability.

Zero-Discharge Effluent Treatment (ETP) & Environmental Controls

Environmental stewardship is core to Gilt Sterling operations. We operate an onsite ETP designed for approximately 5.0 KLD of process effluent that combines multistage neutralization, lamella clarification, sand & activated carbon filtration, and a two-stage RO system. Permeate is reused in plant processes; rejects are handled via evaporation / safe disposal. Packed-bed wet-scrubbers handle air emissions from zinc/fume-generating processes. Read more.

Technical highlights

  • Design flow: ~5.0 KLD (process wash waters & rinse streams).

  • Treatment chain: neutralization → lamella clarifier → sand & carbon → 2-stage RO → reuse / managed reject.

  • RO permeate reuse target: ~2.0 KLD (process makeup) — reduces fresh water consumption.

  • Air control: packed wet scrubber with recirculation for fume capture from furnaces/zinc baths.

Why silver plating remains the best choice for electrical contacts?

Silver offers the lowest contact resistance and excellent solderability — we explain thickness selection, undercoats and anti-tarnish strategies for reliable contacts.

Tin-plated busbars: why tin is often the right choice?

Tin is cost-effective and solder-friendly for busbars. This post explains tradeoffs vs silver and how to avoid issues such as tin whisker growth.

Silver Plating for GIS Conductors — Balancing Conductivity and Wear

Silver plating for GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) conductors ensures superior electrical conductivity, low contact resistance, and long-term corrosion and wear protection. Learn how proper substrate selection, undercoat design, plating thickness, and qualification testing ensure reliable field performance.

2

Tin-plated busbars: why tin is frequently the right choice for power distribution?

Busbars carry high currents in switchgear and distribution systems. Choosing plating that balances conductivity, solderability and corrosion resistance is essential — tin plating often offers the best balance for soldered joints and corrosion protection.

3

Why silver plating remains the best choice for electrical contacts?

For low-resistance, high-reliability contacts — from switchgear to precision connectors — silver plating remains the industry standard. Here’s why designers and OEMs still choose silver, and how correct surface engineering delivers the performance you need.
